How to Prepare for Group Discussion / More

Group discussion is not a common procedure in public sector bank exams but it is of great importance in private sector bank exam, civil service exams & other competitive exams.

1. GD are generally held to know about the candidate’s communication skills, managing & analytical skills & his way of handling the issues. In this, a group of 5 – 8 candidates is made by the authority & a common topic is given. You have to say your own views on that topic.

2. For GD, one must be aware of all the current affairs so that you can put your view easily & comfortably. For these, you must read newspaper, GK books & magazines regularly & should update oneself about the banking industry, worldwide etc.

3. Generally, those who start the discussion have a privilege over the others as you have lot to say. But if you are not sure about the topic, don’t even try to start. It will give a bad impression of yours.

4. Speak in English with no grammatical mistake. Always try to speak in slow speed so that you don’t make any mistake. Also your voice should be loud enough so that everyone hears it properly & also it depicts your confidence level.

5. Always listen to what other say during GD. Otherwise, you may end up repeating the same views which may give a wrong impression of yours.
